He wrote many books, including: Heaven and Hell published in 1758. This book is a detailed description of the afterlife where people go after the death of the physical body. It deals with God, heaven, hell, angels, spirits, and devils, which the author claimed to have witnessed first hand. Some of the things he claims to have experienced are that there are Jews, Muslims and people of pre-Christian times ("pagans" such as Romans and Greeks) in Heaven. the fundamental issue that love of self or of the world drives one towards Hell, and love of God and fellow beings towards Heaven.

Webber lacked formal education and had been a miner in Wales who was brought to Spiritualism by his wife. He attended a home circle and discovered his own mediumistic abilities. He acquired several spirit controls. He began with table tipping and soon afterwards experienced the levitation of objects, including the famous trumpets which spirits reportedly used as a megaphone-like device. He also became a healer. As he developed, those attending his seances reported hearing spirit voices, both coming through the trumpets and independent of them. They also saw objects move and levitate. A book was written about him, called The Mediumship of Jack Webber, which writes of the more than four thousand persons who witnessed Webber's physcial mediumship.
